Can I switch if

I have a smart meter?

Yes, you certainly can switch if you've got a smart meter. However, at the moment smart meters may lose some functionality when you switch. This means they may no longer send meter readings automatically back to your new supplier, so may need to do that yourself when asked.

There is one exception!

If you've got a smart prepayment meter, you will almost certainly lose functionality. So if you're thinking of switching it may be worth calling the new supplier first to check if there will be any issues.
